Spring 2018: HerCityfinds' favorite campaigns and advertisements of the season!
Below is a working list of Campaigns and advertisements that have moved, inspired or uplifted my spirits this Spring 2018 Season:
Theme : Auto
Lexus: "Genetics Select" . . . a cheeky April fools commercial suggesting that technology could one day choose one's ideal car.
Volvo: All-New Volvo XC60 | Embrace the Future (Extended)
M - "Are you nervous? Well, they're not going to leave without you."
W- "Am I nervous? I do get nervous. And its okay, were only human. nerves are a sign that you are stepping outside of your comfort zone, and that's when you find out what you are really capable of. Its natural to be afraid of things you don't know. Its not okay to run away from them. My mom taught me that. She always believed in me. She never questioned my abilities or capabilities to achieve whatever it was that I wanted to do. That's how I was raised. Its who I am. The only thing that can stop you from being whatever you want to be are the limitations you put on yourself. During my first mission I had a moment in orbit, looking down at the earth, when I realized just how small we really are, and yet there I was in the most expensive man made object in the history of the world going 24k miles an hour. The universe is big, but were bigger. ...How's it going down there?"
M-"it's good. Liking the (indecipherable) ... I'm over it though."
W- "haha that's fine. I miss her more than you anyways. Miles? Do you ever think about how we got here? This moment in time? We really are lucky."
M- "Luck had nothing to do with it. You have always chased the hell out of the unknown. YOU stepped through that door."
W- "There are two types of people in the world: those who fear the future, and those who embrace it. The future is for the unafraid"
Volvo XC90 Luxury SUV | "Wedding" (Extended):
"I remember you were 10 years old, and I drove you to summer camp. It was just the two of us. When I was dropping you off, you had this smile, the same smile I see today. I drove for about two minutes, I had to pull over, and I thought to myself, you're in for it now. The reason I'm telling you this is that ... there will be moments in your life that you will never be ready for, you will just not be ready for. Your little girl getting married being one of them. I'm still not ready. I guess this I when I'm supposed to give you advice on marriage... See in the beginning when you're first starting out, everything's exciting. Your potential is unlimited. Exploding with possibilities. Simply because of the person sitting beside you right now, and you found a guy like Jacob, good man. It won't always be easy. There will be days ... you'll make mistakes, sometimes love wont be enough. You'll have to make the decision to not give up on each other. That wont always be your first instinct, but I promise you it will be worth it. I love you sweetheart."
Volvo V90 Cross Country Luxury Crossover | "Live Fully Now" (Full Length):
"You reach a point in life when you have to choose. Career over passion. Work over play. It’s when surfers turn into CEOs. Photographers turn into lawyers. Fly-fishers turn into doctors. Mountain climbers turn into engineers.
It's when you put a piece of yourself on hold. And as time passes, the things you used to love doing, start to fade away. This is a reminder to not forget what you love. All the activities that you once embraced.
A message amplified by an original speech by the philosopher Alan Watts, recorded in 1959.
This is a tribute to his legacy and the values he shared with Volvo.

"My goodness, don't you remember when you went first to school?
You went to kindergarten.
And kindergarten, the idea was to push along so that you could get into first grade.
And then push along so that you could get into second grade, third grade, and so on,
Going up and up and then you went to high school and this was a great transition in life.
And now the pressure is being put on, you must get ahead.
You must go up the grades and finally be good enough to get to college.
And then when you get to college, you're still going step by step, step by step, up to the great moment in which you're ready to go out into the world.
And then when you get out into this famous world,
Comes the struggle for success in profession or business.
And again, there seems to be a ladder before you,
Something for which you're reaching for all the time.
And then, suddenly, when you're about 40 or 45 years old, in the middle of life,
You wake up one day and say "huh? I've arrived and, by Joe, I feel pretty much the same as I've always felt. In fact I'm not so sure that I don't feel a little bit cheated."
Because, you see, you were fooled.
You were always living for somewhere where you aren't.
And while, as I said, it is of tremendous use for us
To be able to look ahead in this way and to plan.
There is no use in planning for a future,
Which when you get to it and it becomes the present you won't be there.
You'll be living in some other future which hasn't yet arrived.
And so in this way, one is never able actually to inherit and enjoy the fruits of ones actions.
You can't live it all unless you can live fully now." AW
