Friday Finds:

Happy first week of 2018!

"Peace is not the absence of storm, but the tranquility within the storm." -Tibetan Monk Expression.
We have just survived winter storm Grayson or as social media says #BombCyclone (am I the only one that thinks that is a terrible handle?) or #JanuaryBlizzard on 1/4/18! Yay, I want more!

Total Snowfalls: Portland: 11.9" , Concord: 13", Boston: 13.4" and Manhattan:9".

Tuesday I reached 100 followers on Instagram @hercityfinds !

My 111th follower won a free pair of socks from The Sock Shack in Portland, Maine.

That same night I also stopped by Alex & Ani to exchange a Christmas present and purchase a Precious Threads bracelet. This bracelet reminds me of how I feel when I am at my best. I feel thankful that I have the opportunity to say that I have experienced a time when I am at my best so I can strive for it again. When I am at my best I feel light! The feather also reminds me of my past job working with Jessica Simpson in 2016 where I, unfortunately, had to handle the loss of my brother but also had many wonderful experiences with two very inspiring and beautiful teams of talented co-workers!

Tuesday wrapped up with dinner at DiMillo's. I had a Seared Tuna Carpaccio that was perfectly rationed and drizzled with dressing. What I found so fascinating about this place was that it was a restaurant on a boat, it is family owned AND is decorated with tons of historic pictures and sea-decor including an antique diver's suit! I would have spent way too long reading deets in the hallway had I not been in the company of others.

Family from Florida arrived on Wednesday night. Just in time for a Blizzard! That snow-filled Thursday I entertained family from Florida. Activities with my adorable younger cousin included:
  • Drawing - sea turtle, horses, and dolphins with the help of fantastic drawing instruction books: iDraw;
  • Sledding
  • Warming up with hot cocoa from Panera Bread;
  • Hot-tubbing and stretching (We came up with a routine! My goal is to be able to do a split and a backbend by 1/17 [for Colombia Trip])
  • Painting our fingernails (I am wearing "Frances" by Masglo which is a perfect base for a french manicure).

Also, flights to Colombia were booked. I will be in Cartagena, Colombia the 17th to the 24th of January. I expect to work on Style Posts featuring products that I approve of as well as raising awareness and scouting anything worthwhile across lifestyle, food, fashion and beauty topics. Be excited & let me know if you have any suggestions 😉.

Let us now look at some necessary suggestions for a happy and prosperous 2018 . . .

Why don't you:

  1. Let go of past mistakes.
  2. Ask for exactly what you want or if you don't currently know, try to figure out exactly what that is.
  3. Say "No" whenever necessary and know that it is okay and sometimes necessary.
  4. Give praise and constructive feedback to encourage growth and direction.
  5. "Be the change you want to see".

 Happy Friday!
